Rental FAQs

Hours and periods of rental availability reflect expected temperatures and other location constraints. Rental days are scheduled based on historical trends and publicly available data. We cannot guarantee, nor do we set or control any water temperature. Days of operation are based on historical water temperatures in the region and guidance from safety organizations. While no finite reckoning or determination can be made, it is our aim to only allow rentals when water temperatures are suitable for on-water paddling recreation that does not require wet suits.

The primary renter must be 18 years of age or older. The primary adult renter, aged eighteen or older, must present a valid government-issued photo ID via digital photo upload as part of the reservation process.

The individual, or legal adult in a rental party, must make payment for the rental(s) via a valid credit or debit card.

Late returns are subject to additional charges. All equipment, including paddlecraft (kayaks, or SUPs), paddles, PFDs, etc. must be returned, in a clean and orderly condition, to its designated HIVE cell and secured by the end of the rental period. Please allow sufficient time to properly secure all equipment and activate the Smart Padlock prior to expiration of the rental period – there is a good chance another paddler will be anxiously waiting for their outdoor adventure to start.Each rental is for a discrete time. All equipment must be returned to its HIVE cell prior to theexpiration of that period. Usage beyond that period will incur a $50 penalty plus a 1-hour automatic renewal at the current 1-hour rental rate. This policy ensures paddlecraft are ready for each renter.Visit www.hivepaddlesports.com for videos that will help you get out on the water and all stowed away quickly. If you become aware you will be late in returning, please contact us here so we can assist you and other renters who may be impacted.

Once a rental is confirmed and payment is processed, it is final. No refunds can be made for cancellations or no-shows.

Yes, we highly recommend booking in advance, especially during peak seasons. Reservations can be made 3 days in advance.

No experience is required! Kayaking is a safe and enjoyable activity for all skill levels. We recommend browsing our safety materials and familiarizing yourself with your paddle location before you go.
