Life jackets are included in your rental, and every paddler is responsible for making sure their personal floatation device (PFD) is on their kayak throughout their adventure. Children under 13 are required to wear their PFD continuously while on the water.
Rental is only permitted at water temperatures above 15°C (59°F). Hours and periods of rental availability reflect expected temperatures and other location constraints.Rental days are scheduled based on historical trends and publicly available data. We cannot guarantee, nor do we set or control any water temperature. Days of operation are based on historical water temperatures in the region and guidance from safety organizations. While no finite reckoning or determination can be made, it is our aim to only allow rentals when water temperatures are suitable for on-water paddling recreation that does not require wet suits.
Renters are obliged to follow all applicable boater safety laws. Renters and/or minor participants are solely responsible for any citation or violation occurring during the use of, oras the result of using, paddlecraft and equipment rented.
Be familiar with, self- and buddy rescue techniques such as the Paddle Float Rescue (re-entering your kayak solo using your paddle float for stability), and swimming and reentry (swimming your kayak to shore or re-entering in deep water). The specific paddle craft offerings are specific to each site, however, most sites offer both single and tandem (double) kayaks. All of our kayaks are sit-on-top kayaks. All our kayaks are well-maintained and suitable for different skill levels.
Our kayaks are quite stable so most of the time paddlers and their things are able to stay dry while on the water. We also provide a dry bag with each kayak rental for your use.
All adult renters are financially responsible for lost or damaged equipment utilized by anyone in their party. All equipment must be inspected by the renter(s) before use, and any observed damage reported to 1 (888) 589-9435. Damage, breakdowns, malfunctions, or losses mustbe immediately reported.Renters bear all risks of responsibility of and for any and all damage, loss, or theft of the paddlecraft and equipment, or any portions thereof.If rented equipment is not returned, is stolen, or is damaged, customers may be charged the full current replacement cost to include, but not be limited to ordering, preparation, shipping/delivery, down time, and set-up.Determination of condition and cost to cure are the sole purview of HIVE PaddleSports.Equipment theft will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.By renting, you agree to be liable for any damage or loss to the paddlecraft or equipment and authorize us to charge your credit card accordingly.
